Product weight: 15 grams
Average comparable product weight: Comparable or lighter than similar products.
Weight/Notes consideration: With regards to weight, you wouldn’t even know they’re there. Super
lightweight and compact.
Product function: As advertised, the J Lab Epic earbuds have the longest battery life in class. Unlike other
wireless earbuds that fail after 2 hours, the J Lab buds keep going with excellent quality for super long
workouts or many short workouts without charging. When they do need a charge, they regain full power
Additional functions: Easy to pair, user friendly, functional and long lasting earbuds for listening to your
favorite music or podcasts.
Missing functions: Missing on the J Lab Epic earbuds is the ability to use voice commands to place calls
or make/send text messages while in use. They do allow phone call answering, however the quality is
poor. If needing to get work done via phone while running/ridding/climbing/paddling/etc, these buds
aren’t for you.
Function notes/considerations: Sweat proof and snow proof – never lost connection. With regards to
comfort, the rigid over ear portion does tend to irritate and come loose more often than comparable
products with softer over the ear materials. In addition, due to the rigidness of the earbud, there is very
specific way the earbuds need to be positioned to stay in place. If they fall out during a ride, it is hard to
get them back in quickly. Overall, I would purchase this product for the long lasting battery, however, if I
could change the product, I would add the ability to place phone calls and texts as well as soften up the
over ear portion of the earbuds.
Smallest dimensions: 2” x 2” when wadded up
Size compared to comparable products: Excellent. Similar to other comparable products.
Size notes/considerations: The earbuds can be carried in a cell phone size case (included) with the
charger for ease of finding/packing, or, they can be thrown in a back pocket, small zipper or pocket in
your pack, or wherever you need them to be. They’re tough (as noted below), so I never had a concern
for wadding the product up and carrying along.
Adventure tests endured: Mountain biking and trail running.
Adventure tests failed: None
Tough notes/consideration: As mentioned above with function, the rigid/hard plastic/rubber material
that goes over the ear does tend to bounce off occasionally during mtn biking and running.
